Trekking and Hiking amidst some of the most wonderful trails in the world. In Nepal
Tea house lodges…as they are.
On beaten trails or virgin tracks, Nepal is a trekker's paradise, virtually. The clip-clop rhythm of foot travel is a unique way to explore so much and make meaningful contact with the country. Trekking usually consists of a series of ascents and descents walking 5 to 7 hours (9 to 14 km per day on average, with a guide, cook and porters and on some occasion’s, pack animals.
Trekkers rely on guides for identifying tracks and an introduction to the local people, their culture, religion, and lifestyles. A trekking route will often pass through forests of rhododendron, bamboo, oak, and hemlock, visiting one or two villages each day. Rivers are crossed on log passages or suspension bridges. It’s a feeling of the great out-door, from the word ‘go’. The Himalayas of Nepal consists of some of the most popular trekking regions in the world.
It’s not unusual to cross snowfields in the morning and bathe in sub-tropical streams in the afternoon. For the most part, trekking routes are well traveled by local people, but remain unmarked without sign posts. You soon learn to discover by yourself. It’s a challenge galore all the way.
The objective of trekking is not just a particular destination, but the journey itself. You travel at a modest pace, observing nature, rural communities, and spectacular mountain panoramas.
Our job is to ensure your comfort and safety as we take you where you want to go, at your own pace. We show you what you have come to see, and help you discover things you had no idea existed there!
Staying in local inns and lodges are known as teahouse treks. On lodge treks we do not carry lots of equipment like in camping treks. We only take our necessary gear and porters carry them for us. However, privacy, peace and quiet at night, and a relaxed trekking pace have to be sacrificed for the sake of your budget. Our English-speaking trekking guide will assist in arranging places to eat and sleep, while the porter carries all your gear apart from your day sack with your personal possessions. We sleep in the local lodge with proper hospitality. The fresh and hygienic food will be supplied from the local lodge that is always available on the trail. Decent accommodations for trekkers are available in the Annapurna, Everest, Langtang and other commonly trekked regions.
Lodges in the hills provide a special meeting place for trekkers from around the world. You will have a good opportunity to see how people in the hills of Nepal live, work and eat and may develop at least a rudimentary knowledge of the Nepalese language.
A day in the mountains follows a natural rhythm, soon after dawn you wake for breakfast. After breakfast you can expect to walk for three or four hours in the morning, before a leisurely lunch followed by another three or so hours in the afternoon. You travel at your own pace along the trails which link Nepal's tiny hamlets; many of which are ancient trade routes originating from Tibet. There is generally ample time for photography or other personal interests especially on our less arduous treks. Bunking out in tea house lodges gives you a cozy feeling of warmth. On a number of occasions, we have turned the worst of enemies into lifetime partners who write & tell us they have become proud parents..
